Default Super budget nitrous build?

I have a 100,000 mile lt1 that runs fine, Can I just slap new bearings and a set of forged pistons and rings and be good to go?

You could. You could just spray it as it. There are lots of guys spraying cars that have 150k+ miles on them. How much are you planning on spraying? That would be the decision maker right there. But if it were me and I was putting pistons in a motor that had 100k miles I would bore it just to be safe. Thats my .02$

Spray it as is. If it blows, then rebuild it to withstand a heafty shot

I have 130k, gonna put a 847 cam in, stall, and gears and put a 150 shot on it, it blows...then time to build a forged bottom end to handle 250 shot

I would like to run a 200 shot on it. And from my understanding the weak link is the pistons. What are some good cheap pistons that willl take a 200 shot?

Thats awesome! I just need to find a decent set of forged pistons. Can I run any small block chevy piston that takes a 5.7 rod?

id prob recommend mahle powerpack, ive got quite a few buddies spraying right at around 200hp on them holding up great on a semi-stock shortblock. i personally chose probe pistons... mainly because i got an outstanding deal on them and figured id give some feedback once i start dosing the motor with nitrous. i built an EXTREME budget shortblock to throw gobs of nitrous at until it pops. next build is in the works and is a bit more extreme

I say go with 150shot and if it goes (max you can get away with w/o timing adjustment, just needs cooler plugs), it most likely isn't going to be catastrophic. So if it does croak, you'll be able to do your pistons and bearings.... just along with a quick +.030 punch job

Ah, well **** lol Do it up! I say splurge for some budget I-Beams and go for 250 Hell, depending on the timeframe you hope it to last, you could even try 300 for *****-n-giggles!

I have looked into spraying several times (more then likely gonna be my next purchase) anyhow, every time I have spoke with the guys over at Nitro Daves they have always said 150 up requires timing adjustment...

Oh and also, you are more then likely going to need to run a new fuel pump as well. Especially with a larger shot along with bigger injectors and different plugs (NGK TR6 are well known plugs to run with Nitrous)
