Default Which Oil Pickup

Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't find a strait answer. On my new set-up, I am going to be running a Moroso oil pan (stock replacement 5.5 qt, mine is bent) and after some research have decided to go with the Melling 10552 oil pump, which has the bolt on pickup tube. I am looking for the part number of the pickup tube that will work with the pump and pan. Thanks.

if you're going with a stock pan you will want to stick with a standard oil pump

appearantly the one you posted is a hv pump

I don't know why you would want the HV pump, either.

This pump only flows 10% more than stock. More like extra volume as opposed to high volume. But I really don't care about extra volume, I was mostly just looking to get the style: the Melling select series with a bolt-on pickup instead of press-on like the factory. And it needs to fit the 5.5 qt Moroso pan. Anyone have suggestions? Or should I just go with the 10554 Melling and use the Moroso suggested pick-up (which is listed as an oval track pick-up)?

I'd go with the 10554, and not just because I have one for sale (PM if interested). I'd use the 10554 with the GM white spring. That'd be plenty for your application. 10% might not sound like alot, but you'd be surprised how quickly the stock pan can be sucked dry.

Can't help you with the pickup though, unless you opt to use the Canton 242T (in which case, the correct pickup is 20-023).

unless they are making a new pickup they are 5/8 and i believe the 10554 is a 3/4 inlet. moroso said they could custom make one for a fee. told them it was horse **** that they make a "direct replacement" pan that requires their pickup but cant use a stock pump. i ended up going with a canton pan after getting summit to take back the moroso pan and pickup.

Yeah your right. But the 10553 is the same pump but with the 5/8 inlet so I will do that one instead. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
