Comp 268xfi hr-13 cam
Anyone on here running it in a stock lt-1?
What do u think of it?
Is a comp 918 spring enough for it?
Will a 918 spring work on a stock head without machining?
Please help.
Thanks,
Dale

That's a mild street grind:
218/224 .570"/.565" 113 (w/ 1.6 rr's)
It will work well with stock heads and will be a good midrange cam with decent top end.
How much horsepower are you looking to make?
Comp 918 springs will be sufficient and will work on stock unmodified heads. You will have to use the right locks (648-16) and retainers (787-16) though.

My buddy runs that in his 6-speed Vette (BlkmagicC4). He is pleased with the cam for the most part but if he were to do it over again I think he would have gone with something else like the cc503 or a similar sized custom grind. He's running the 918 Beehives. The cam has a nice mid-range and he shifts it right around 6000ish.
When he gets back from class I will have him post up here.

I had that cam in my L98 and it acts bigger than one would think. I was shifting around the 6000rpm mark based on the dyno. I think it would be a good fit for your car as long as the valve springs can handle the lift.

Push rods or connecting rods? I am assuming you meant push rods. I would advise against it. Any time you increase your lift, ratio of rocker, and run a stiff spring, you should get hardened pushrods. You can get Trickflow chromemoly pr's from Summit for 87 bucks.

I have that cam in my 383. operating range 1800-5800 RPM and dyno shows that is right. big TQ and has very good mid range pwr.
Idles good, just enough sound to let you know something is there, passes smog with the right tune.
You WILL need 918 springs with this cam.

Well I bought the cam,918 springs,comp hardened rods,1.6rr's.
Seeing as how I have a lot more to buy though,t/c,gaskets,guide plates, etc. It will be a while before it is in. I may wait and do it over the winter when I have all the other stuff I wanna do.
Do u guys think a 26 to 2800 stall would be a good converter for this cam?
