Default Dyno Day Disaster

What a day fellas....what a day. So I finally got around to my final "Dyno tune" today to find out my LE2 numbers and it ended in a headache and my car being trailored home. Looks as if I have a bad head gasket. We did a couple compression test and the number 5 and 7 were at 30%. Still not 100% positive if that is indeed the problem but should find out soon after we tear back into it. Wish me luck guys!

ya going to the dyno only to find problems sucks, i know how ya feel. Head gaskets aren't too terrible to change though man. G/L with the fix and hope you get that thing back up and running soon!

Sucks to hear! Hopefully it is just the headgasket.

Good luck!

Thanks guys...yeah what a crap day. I've been so hyper to see what this bad boy puts down for a while now...so has Lloyd lol! Looks as if we might start on it next week. I'm praying it is indeed the head gasket. There wasn't any coolant leaking so that's a plus and the oil was clean along with the plugs. Heck we shall see!

Doesn't sound like a gasket if you didn't have any in the cylinders or oil.....

Try this.. pull the Rockers off for #5 and #7 and do another Compression test. If the Compression is good, then you have a crack in the Head or in the Block.

Just something to try before you take it down..since it's pretty much coming apart anyways, but another thing to do to troubleshoot.

Aww man I been waiting to see what yours does through that auto. We know AC's numbers through a 6 speed. I think Lloyd's old car made something like 436 rwhp through an 8.8 with a 3600 stall converter. Sickening numbers for an auto. Of course he had Bryan from PCMforless dyno tune it so...

Anyways good luck man hopefully it's a quick fix. When mine is done those 500 or so break in miles are gonna kill me. I'll probably go to 800 just to be sure with the motor and the new clutch. But waiting to get to a dyno...no fun for me.

Man I hope it's neither of those bro...that would suck. The tuner/builder really thinks it is a head gasket because of the symptoms. Never know though it could very well have been a junk head anythings possible.

WEAK is not the word I want to use right now Once the **** hit the fan today I hide in the corner of the shop and didn't say a word to anyone for a good two hours. My buddies knew I was wanting to break something...other then the car

Agreed. If it is indeed a blown head gasket then coolant will be in a location where it shouldn't. What are the details to the break down? Lots of smoke? Lots of blowby? Wouldnt' start? Heard a mechanical noise?

sorry to hear you had issues

as the OP asked what is the reason for thinking a head gasket? if there is a gasket problem coolant would be somewhere besides the radiator...exhaust or oil.

Lots of blowby...then shortly after the car doesn't want to stay running
