ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! You will not beleive this
After spending 20 hours working on my car i finally put it all together just to start it up and hear ANOTHER FLIPPIN KNOCKING SOUND!!
I swear i have no luck!
It sounds like its coming from the torque converter..is that possible? Its a very loud and rapid sound. And sometimes can be inconsistent.
Im planning on just sending it to GM so they can handle this. I cant stand this any longer. im only 16 and on my birthday i couldnt drive me car and now 8 days later still cant!
Im guessing they money i earned for my headers and cat backs will not be wasted at GM..

okay well wheni got the car i had a strange rattle. It was coming from the rockers. I looked at that then notice one of the rockers would not tighten right. So i took of the intake and replaced all lifters. Also bought and replaced new opti, plugs, wires.
When i got the car i noticed the cover for the torque converter was missing. So im assuming something has been done to it.
But what i found strange is why would it just start randomly knocking once i start my car? Its been sitting for about 3 weeks.
The sounds is very loud but once you listen from under the car it sounds even louder..
any help?

Sounds like the torque converter bolts either backed out or the flexplate cracked. The conver you are talking about is not important - it will not cause damage not having it. Since it's already off, inspect the converter bolts/flexplate. My jeep had the same issue - sounded like engine knock.

My buddy's car had a loud intermittent noise from the flexplate/converter area...then his flexplate cracked in three places not too long later.
I would drop the trans, pull the converter and inspect the flex plate. If it looks good, start the car and see if you still hear any knocking.

Don't get discouraged, the frustration is part of the game.
Anyone who tells you it always goes smooth is either lying or needs to start playing the lotto.

My guess & "its just that" by you saying it "just started" i would have to say a spun bearing, flexplates just don't rip apart that fast, sure the bolts can come loose, but its more of a "load" rattle then a knocking sound, its higher pitched, i would lift it up some (support it with jack stands", then either use a broom handle or stethiscope if you can reach the oil pan, then listen, you'll know if its coming from the lower end, you can useally feel it with just your hand, let us know what you find either way.

x2 on torque converter being loose. You said it was intermittent, which would rule out a bearing. You probably tightened down the torque converter really tight, but in fact you didn't actually bottom out the bolts, which would cause it to wobble around slighty.
