Default lt1 and manual trans

I've been looking around for a 4th gen past couple days and it seems like slim pickins when it comes to manual trans. Did gm mate any lt1's in camaro/firebird with manual trans? All I see is hundreds and hundreds of v6 automatics, and every v8 I see is auto. Thanks all

yes of course they mated 6-speeds to lt-1's. u just have to look. i wish i would have looked more when i bought my car. but i needed a car at the time and i was a little crazy cause i had my first chance to buy an f-body. the next one will be stick for me even if i have to convert it over from auto to stick.

They are not nearly as common as LS1 6-speeds, but they are out there. I own one of each

Lol..they are out there, you just have to find them.

Lots of people use the LT1 stuff behind SBC's.

T56 ftmfw!

It's slim pickings because everyone will gobble up the manual trans before it ever makes it to the junkyard, and if it gets there, don't expect it to stay for long.

There are a few of them on ebay right now, cars that is. What car do you own right now? If you are looking for a car to cruise around in go with a T56, if you want a car for the track go auto. I'm sure you've heard that before though.

Hmmm i like my auto! i have it rebuilt with a shift kit so i never miss a gear! Dont get me wrong i love the 6 speed and wanted one, but i like the auto tranny when its rebuilt with shift kit and shifts hard.

Of course you will get more power to the wheels thru a 6 speed which is a benefit!

Good Luck!

lol. Me too. I decided that I wasn't going to get one unless it was an m6 w/ t-tops though. Luckily I found one within a few hours from home.

Put a YANKSS3600 and 3.73 gears in your auto and you will be much happier like I am...

Sadly, you will still NEVER be able to beat the FUN TO DRIVE factor of the 6-speed t56...

I was more mad when I bought mine and right after I bought it my dream car (98 WS6 black on black) went for sale near me for just a little bit more on the price.. I about cried

That's the setup I used to have..it was enough to lift the front tires.

The second part of your post is what made me convert..

I looked for a long time when I was going to buy my car. Buddy had it in SC but I was looking for one closer to home.

6 speeds are hard to find in decent shape.

I have a third gen Camaro right now with the shitty lg4. I don't feel great about dumping any more money into it. I want something newer and preferably 6 speed. Now answer me this- I've seen a couple nice LT1's with autos, how bad is a manual swap in these cars?
