SBC guideplates don't have the same spacing as what is needed for LT1s. You will end up with several cylinders with skewed alignment.

Suggestions:

GM p/n 14011051 (8 needed) (good idea to check them for hardness)
Trickflow Part # 30400623-8
or adjustable guideplates

I tried the GM and the Trickflows and neither one was right for my heads, I ended up using the Isky adjustables.
I have a set of the GM ones for cheap if you want to try them.

What heads were those?

I have TF guideplates on my stock heads and they work fine.

I took some SBC's and hack sawed 90% of the way through, and spread the slot spacing as required. Then I bridged the cut with a weld and bolted them up. It seems like this will work well.

By the naked eye, the spacing looks different to me. Even a small amount is enough to make a difference.

Here is a comparison to some I had before from the old Combination Motorsports vendor. I think they were probably Comp plates. They did not align all cylinders properly. The spacing difference was also detectable in a side by side or stacked comparison to the GM plates.
