Default Wiring Question

So I am trying to find a place to wire in for 12v battery souce. On the passenger side above the battery, you have 3 posts. What I think is two positives by each other, and further up a ground that also has a wire coming off from the battery ground. I took my dvom set on DC voltage, put one lead on battery ground and the other on the upper single post that looks like a ground and the meter is showing me 12.5volts? Is that right or am I having some feedback here?

Inside the red, plastic cover is a positive terminal post. The uncovered post by it is a ground terminal.

The uncovered post is the one I am talking about. I figured it was ground, but cant understand why I am seeing battery voltage by testing two ground connections.

You shouldn't be. Maybe the other one you think is a ground is actually not.

Do you have your battery harness hooked up correctly?

No, that cannot be a short. A short would eiither fry a wire or burn out a fuse.
As ss.slp.ls1 suggested, something in your wiring harness is mucked up.
Do this: Remove all the wires from the ground post (the one on the fender). Have them suspended in the air or resting on something non-conductive (you can use rubber, plastic, or cloth). Now test each wire from itself to the ground post. Find out which one (if any) is showing the 12+ volts. If none of them show any (or a tiny amount) of voltage, go straight from the battery post to the ground post.
Let us know what your results are, and we can continue from there.

Ive tried taking the connections of the stud but I am unable to without cutting anything. The stud free spins when trying to removing the top nut, there is a second nut in the middle, something around a 16mm but my wrenches are too think to get inbetween everything.

Yeah, same thing usually happens to every car. You have to keep twisting the wire around it and around it unti the whole thing comes off, then you can use two wrenches to undo the nut from the double stud.

If some wires spin with the stud, try taking a large pair of pliers and hold the the spinning wire(s). It should prevent the stud from spinning.
I have to do that to take mine off.
