Default Crank for 6.0 rod or 5.7

I've got a new scat crank for my LT1 for a 6.0 rod. Since I've just spent some real coin on my LS3408 but I want to finish my LT1 383 Vortech. So can I use 5.7 rods on a 6.0 rod crank?

Plans are VERY smooth almost stock like idle with blown383. Thx

The crank has nothing to do with rod length - it's the piston height. You'll be fine.

I thought so but when I bought the crank it specificaly said for 6.0 rod. I'd rather go 5.7 just for the dif in price. Its not a race car. Thanks!

Why not call Scat and find out what the difference is?

or whats wrong with scat 2-ICR6000 they go for about 250 bones for a set of eight and they are clearanced for strokers.

Thanks I'll look into that. On Friday my bud at the parts shop started looking up some rods and they were like 450+ note these were forged since I'm going FI 383.

I believe cranks spec rod length because of skirt to counterweight clearance concerns. With maybe an element of balance consider as well.

google the part number I listed, its for forged, 6", bushed I-beams. There are better rods out there than the ones I listed. However, the money you will save in buying 5.7 vice 6.0 is chump change vice the cost of building a stroker.

Dwayne,
You are correct: I figured with the earlier (it doesnt matter) response it would be best to refer him to SCAT; nothing like piston skirts hitting counter weights, or having to pay for a couple slugs of mallory IOT balance the crank for heavier than expected piston/rod compination.

the counterweights on the 6.0 crank are bigger. if you use a 5.7 rod it will bring the piston down into the crank.

Quick Reply: Crank for 6.0 rod or 5.7
