Do you need new O2s or just extensions?

How are they junk? You didn't like the soldering you did, or you had a bad sensor?

I just put LT's on and I used an O2 that was already extended by cutting and splicing. Is that not a good way to do it?

Cutting/splicing sensor wiring is never a good idea as it can affect the resistance of the wiring, crucial for accurate fuel trims.

thats what I've heard, but I don't see how buying extentions is any different than cutting and splicing wire. When it comes down to it, you're still adding more wire. And typically you have less resistance when soldiering wire than when you use electrical connectors like butt connectors or the GM 4 pin O2 connectors.

The only way I could see adding wire and not affecting resistance is if the new wire is a larger gauge wire, since larger wire has less resistance than smaller wire.

I'm no electrical expert but I do have a good understanding of it. I guess its just enough for me to overthink stupid stuff haha..

I want to beleive that buying extentions will fix my problem, but I'm just skeptical. Does EVERYBODY buy extentions for their O2's, no one has extended them and not had any issues?

I actually have an extra one laying around somewhere. All you need is one, for the passenger side.

It's because the resistance is not the only consideration. The way the O2s work is by using refererence air to compare to the exhause gases. The reference air is brought in from around the wire and insulation around it (like a straw). Compromise that by soldering, melting insulation and possibly blocking/contaminating the source of the air and you have ruined an O2. May not happen in every case, but better to not take the chance.

Does anyone know a part number for a proper O2 sensor that already comes with a longer wire? For those of us planning on putting on long tubes and changing O2s at the same time.
