Default Got my trick flows... uhh

So after waiting and waiting I got my new trick flow 21 degree heads in.

Everything looks good but the exhaust ports casting is kind of screwed up.

I feel like it would be a flow obstruction its hard to explain the cast so view the pics.

How do you guys feel about this? im on the fence.. Sure I could go get my dremel and clean up the ports but I don't feel like I should have too.. These are very expensive heads.

Some are worse then others.. Take a look for yourself.

That's pretty much what a cast aluminum head looks like. Maybe I am missing something? Did you order ported castings?

You ordered a cast head and got a cast head. Not sure what you were expecting but if you wanted pretty ports you should have ordered cnc'd heads.

I know i ordered a cast head, I just thought it was weird that some of them have that edge and the others do not.

It's pretty normal to see this. You could polish them all slick, but performance gains would be almost nothing (porting is another story).

My DART's looked like that. Nothing to get concerned over. Some of the casting "nuggets" were big/unstable enough for me to just pluck out by hand

I with you OP, If i paid good money for some heads (I have LE2's) i would want the edges to be smooth at least

he bought an "as cast" head....thats what you get and honestly those little marks will not do anything for airflow that would be significant at all......

I understand but the lines looks very wavy and jagged as F^#k I would expect it to be a little straighter and cleaner. Smoother the job the smoother the air flow correct ?

yup trickflow markets them FAST AS CAST. they are a cast head. your not paying for the nice looking ports your paying for the flow rate and the 21*. The heads are able to flow just about as good as an le2 head. difference is there is room for port work and making them flow better than they are as cast. they cost you what? 1600 bucks? it costs me 1900 for a set of LE2's and a cam so it's a wash but you have room for improvment later.

Here lies the reason why using aftermarket as-cast unported heads versus a fully ported stock casting offers no real benefit.

That's a little too general of a statement...
