Default Testing Waters "EGR Block off/vac line relocation"

Sooo I fabbed up this EGR block off plate/vacuum line relocation plate. Its basically an egr block off plate with 1/8" threaded holes and fittings to move the vacuum lines to the back of the intake. Thus cleaning up the overall look of the engine bay. It was built with direct bolt on'ability in mind. So you can easily block off your EGR and move your vacuum lines on an otherwise stock engine. It fits exactly as the old EGR would. I will also fab up a second plate for the EGR tube that would run from the exhaust manifold. That will have a larger 3/8" or 1/2" fitting for the brake booster.

Testing the waters to decide if I should improve upon the design, purchase a new plasma torch tip and materials to create more for sale exclusively to the members on ls1tech and the impala forums.

At the moment I am projecting a price of $80 shipped to the upper 48 states including both EGR pieces and necessary gaskets and fittings.

Any pros/cons/suggestions/or takers?

PS I'm no tig welder, all welds are done with a wire fed MIG welder. All pieces are pressure tested to check for leaks.

Also pics to come. Damn phones not working at the moment.

why spend $80 when you can spend 30 for regular plates and be done with it completely???

Nice idea, but I could do the same thing for half the price with no welding.

Maybe you guys missed the point. He's trying to offer a relocation for the vacuum lines (optispark, fuel pressure regulator, heater box) WHILE deleting the EGR at the same time. This isn't just an EGR delete.

yea you could use .25 or .375 thick plate and just cut it out, and drill and tap it.. that would give you plenty of threads for the pipe taps

I think $80 would be way way to steep.. if regular block off plates are $20 i would say about $35 or $40 with the barb fittings..$40 probably pushing it..

Yes you could go with a plate. But to fully bypass all the vacuume lines you'd need 5 ports. If you were to try to bolt a flat plate on, the most 1/8NPT holes I could see tapping and still bolt onto a un modified intake is 2. Then you could use tees to make 4 but it would get ugly.

See photo below:

(Props to whom owns the pic. I did steal it.)

As you can see theres not much room to work with on the EGR mounting point. Only 2 holes. No way to fit 4, 1/8" NPT hose barbs. Thus is why I raised my design to accommodate the number of fittings needed. I thought about cutting up my intake to do the plate idea but decided that it would be a PIA to do. Especially after I had already cleaned it and painted it.

Price is just a guess. The few plates I have made were from scraps I had laying around from other projects... I now have a template and production will definitely speed up and lower costs.

Okay now I see what you did. You built a "tank" on the back of the EGR opening to plumb in more fittings.

I think it's a neat idea. You could also offer alongside it a set of silicon vacuum tubes to make the kit complete.

Just a thought, but for a more complete kit, how about offering it with a single large hole and a vacuum block to mount behind the manifold?? More expensive, but more complete and less cluttered when you're trying to hook everything up.
