Replacing clutch, hydraulics?
So I need to replace my clutch. Is it necessary to replace the master and slave cylinders as well? And from what Ive read I dont need to bleed them, just swap the clutch and go? Btw this is the first time replacing a clutch.

No you dont need to replace the master or slave cylinders, NOR do you need to bleed the lines as long as you do not unhook the line from the slave cylinder...
Tips: Make sure you pull the clutch fork off the throwout bearing COMPLETELY before trying to pull the tranny back, and make ABSOLUTELY SURE you line the fork back up good on the throwout bearing and get it to snap on good when re-installing or else the fork will pop off any time it gets any pressure...

Got the trans out yesterday, and the clutch was a big mess like I expected
Im thinking about the Ram Powergrip clutch #98516. Ram says in some cases you need a adjustable master cylinder for proper release and engagement. So can I install a adjustable master cylinder still with the sealed slave?? Or do I need to change the slave too?

You don't need to replace the salve although most people do just because its out or they have a lot of miles on theres. I didn't. You will have to bleed the system If you change master cylinder though. Which is easy to do.

Okey. I think im gonna go with the spec stage 2 instead, just replace the clutch and leave the hydraulics as it is.

When were the hydraulics last replaced, these cars are old now? It is suggested to replace hydraulics for maximum performance when replacing the clutch assembly....GM does recommend it with every clutch change but it really depends on the driving style.
If you are adding a performance clutch as the unit you described and the hydraulics have not been replaced now would be a great time. 160.00 could be the difference of a new clutch feeling new..I vote new hydraulics!
For me 7 years i have done hydraulics 2 times

Ya it deffinitley is a good idea to change them out, plus it's not very expensive. I really should have replaced the salve, but Kinda forgot about it until it was ready to go back together. I'll add it to the winter to do list haha.

I was going to order the hýdraulics with the clutch but they were out of stock so I just ordered the SPEC 2.
We'll see how that will hold up.
