Default Question:Starters.....

Alright my starter recently went out and people are telling me i should get a mini starter because its better if i happen to change something later...

So my question is should i get a high torque mini starter or just a new one from the parts store

If youre not going to be running super high compression the stock replacement will be fine. I use it with no problems

yes i did... but the junky starter doesn't come close to the rage I feel at their customer service for not standing behind their product.

IMI makes a great starter. I have had the same one in my Nova for years and countless builds with no problems. And I drive it alot. Also my buddy has one in his 2nd Gen camaro been on his 10.5:1 427 and now his 13.5:1 496 with no problems.

I ordered a starter for a 1996 Corvette. Its the LT4 starter which is a factory gear reduction piece and is a bit smaller than the LT1 style and appears to be built better. I snapped the nose cone off my LT1 style. Switched to the LT4 and all has been fine for 5 plus years now. I run 11.2:1 compression so its not outrageous.

Every LT1 starter is a reman. and large in size . The LT4 Starter is smaller , has gear reduction , billet aluminum front face ,
compact design , all parts are NEW not reman. , and they sound cooler The LT4 starter costs more but its worth every penny .
