Default Switching from 4.10s to 3.23s - Pef. Loss?

Hey guys,

My rear is **** right now so im switching to another 10 bolt with 3.23s this weekend. With the 4.10s the car only goes to 110 @ 6500 and after that it makes no power anyways. Peak horsepower exhaust closed is 6250 and open is 6350, peak torque is around 4700-4800. Some people say i will actually go faster, some say i will go slower.

Highway will certainly be better thats for sure!

That's a huge drop in gear ratio. Since you're an automatic, you will need to have the speedometer corrected (PCM reprogrammed) in order to maintain the right shift points.

Don't do it. I had stock 3.42 in my m6 and I swear going to 3.23 by default (hit by a drunk driver )made my car feel sooooooo slow. I'm looking into 4.10s now

4.10s' to 3.23s' will result in a 21% loss of torque to the axles/rims/tires.

I agree with quik95lt1, 3.73's will be better. How tall tires are you running?

Just turbo or juice. That way that gear ratio is potentially better.

juice is definitely an idea next spring, i just dont want to get into the car and it feel like a dog, which im sure it wont anyways. 3.73s would be preferred but after labor ill be broke.

stock street tires 25.6 or whatever. BALD haha.

autos come with 2.73 or 3.23s, i bought this car with 4.10s and they are fun as **** around town but top out at 105-110 MPH and im buzzing really high on the highway. im switching to a stock 3.23 rear from an auto z28.

i think 3.23 is much to low for an M6 just like 2.73 is too low for an automatc. hopefully this wont be too bad.

i switched from a 12 bolt with 4.10s back to a 10 bolt with 3.23s. in my set-up cam/stall, it wasnt that big of difference on the street. i havent been back to the track to verify any decrease in acceleration, but it still breaks the tires loose at 40ish in 2nd.

I went from 4.11 back to 3.42 last year and run the same 1/4 times as before. My shifts fall right into the power peak now instead of after the peak. 3:23 ins't far off 3:42 so you should be fine.
