Default Did you guy note our oil filter, do not have ADBV ?

Some one just point it out for me today, that oil filter for lt1 do not have anti drain back valve on it. event with mobil 1, wix, pure1, k&N filter. Mabe because of the way it mount ? so it dont need ADBV ? I stay away from purelator or carquest, napa select. because they dont have ADBV, since those high dollar dont even have ADBV, i might stick with purelator classic for $3.15. Rather then 6-11 dollar I pay for wix or K&N.

Look at it this way....the filter on an LT1, or any small block Chevy V-8, is mounted in the VERTICAL position, with the inlet/outlet located on the TOP of the filter.

HOW would the oil drain back to someplace? Think I'm kidding? When you change your oil, and spin the filter off, do you get a little oil spewing on your arm? Also, is the filter full of oil?

Well you have the the high pressure bypass in the oil filter plate, that will let some unfiltered oil past. I wouldn't really worry about the filter cause its in the vertical position.

I just run the AC Delco PF 1218. Its a little bit shorter than it use to be but it still holds more oil than the PF 454.

It is a non-issue. The oiling system does not drain once the engine is off. If there is concern, get some Slick-50.

Look at some cutaway pics of fram oil filters and you will never run one again. Cardboard endcaps + the least amount of filter media in the filters.

I'm glad I found this post, because after installing my headers the normal length oil filter looks like it's going to be a PITA to change now.

So the one to run is the PF 1218 or the PF 454?

Wow, RockAuto has a wholesaler closeout on the PF454's. They are only like $2.50, but the shipping is like 8 bucks. Makes me want to buy like 20 of them

K&N has a nut to remove it. Well worth the extra change IMO.
