Default Can I use an MSD cap on my Delco Opti?

I have a spare MSD cap and was wondering if I can just throw it on my GM opti?

Its just the cap, no rotor or anything else.

Simple yes or no will suffice haha not gonna get into a "why would you do that"

If there's nothing wrong with your current opti, don't mess with it.

But will it fit? Why would MSD manufacture it if it didn't?

Well Im non vented and want a vented cap. I was looking on MSD website and there is a black isolator that comes with it looks like a spacer almost. Not sure if i need that or not...

MSD sells a cap and rotor kit specifically to convert the "unvented" opti to vented.

I can not say if the cap for an original vented opti will fit an unvented as I have little experience with those.

I will say though that IMO a MSD cap and rotor on a Delco base is a very GOOD way to go, better than a complete MSD opti at least.

I have been running an MSD cap/rotor on my stock opti for a few years and it has functioned flawlessly. Side by side the MSD cap is a nicer looking piece and seems to address the crossfiring and arcing normally associated with the stock cap/rotor.

I dont have the whole cap and rotor and plastic piece that comes with the whole kit lol

I measured both the MSD and Stock cap and found very little difference other then the thickness of the MSD cap. Fits fine and the stock rotor doesnt hit anything but makes contact with the center nipple looking thing on the cap lol

Yeah since the opti was like $550 I might as well throw a good cap on it.
