Default Headers installed now car is sluggish

I just installed headers on my 94 lt1, pacesetter longtubes egr delete and A.I.R. pump lines are off. When i lay into it to accelerate hard it doesnt respond and rolls black smoke like it is running very rich. It ran strong and fast before but now it just falls on its face when i give it gas, it also feels like it has an occasional mis when i give it the full pedal and it finally starts to move

I think it has to do with your O2 sensors...

i don't have the fittings for egr and air on my headers. Also i have no check engine light so i don't think its my o2 sensors. Could it be from lack of back pressure? I have glass packs after the headers and that is it. So about 28 inches of pipe after the collectors

I don't believe in the whole
"back pressure" thing all the racers run open headers for a reason to get the most out of it with the EGR and AIR did you get the plates to block off the openings in the Intake if not there will be inside air getting into the intake throwing off EVERYTHING in there

i blocked off where the egr came from the exhaust to the intake. What else do i need to block off? That was the only thing i removed when i took the old manifolds off

Are there AIR ports to block off also? I dunno, though. EGR, AIR and 02 stuff should throw codes....

^ This, since you deleted the EGR system, and some mild timing adjustments in the tune will help a lot...

As long as the AIR fuse is left in (block on the left fender), no code will show up with an AIR system delete.

you need a tune. Anytime you do something as drastic as removing the entire emissions setup. Its going to cause problems. adding headers is only a good thing. IF you have a tune that is....

i guess it comes down to needing a tune because i have ruled everything else out. What would a tune run me cost wise? The headers and exhaust system were all the extra money i had to spend.

i ran my car with no block off plates or anything after doing my header install. I took the computer to a shop to delete them from the system though, maybe thats what you need to do.

If you have deleted them already, and its still running that way, only thing i beleive is something wasnt put back on correctly. its hard to do but maybe a plug wire is crossed?

How does it idle?

idles fine and while in park or nuetral it will rev through the whole power band an sound great. With a load on the engine it starts to bog down and spit and pop and roll black smoke the more gas i give it
