Nitrous will get you the most, but it has a recurring cost. Headers gained me and my friend each 7 tenths and 5 mph in the quarter. The stock ones are really restrictive. Gears feel nice on the street, but I don't know that I truly gained that much in the quarter with them. A cam is nice, but it is a more expensive proposition than the other mods discussed. It also adds a cool sound to the vehicle.

if its an automatic, a stall is always a good choice, can gain 4-6 tenths and doesnt need to be refilled

A match and a can of gas. By far the cheapest, best bang for the buck out there. There's an old saying....cheap, fast, and reliable...pick two.

^^^ Like the old saying! Never heard that before!

I would go with the longtubes, ory, tune, and catback for now as that will give you a platform to grow on in the future!
Then i would look into spraying it!

the "GIRLFRIEND MOD" Definately not the cheapest, but it certainly puts the BANG in bang for the buck. lol Mine makes more money than I do, has both helped work on my 97 SS and watched my kids so that I can work on it, helps keep it clean, put the insurance in her name so it only costs $12 a month, and has only asked to drive it a couple times. After buying a 95 M6 Z28 for parts, she has decided that I'm going to fix it up for her to drive until I pass it to my kids later. I won't even begin to talk about all the OTHER benefits she has to offer.

My other favorite cheap mods are:
TB bypass
ls1 lid conversion
de-screening the MAF
longtubes, ORY, and catback or X-pipe & turndowns
!EGR and !AIR
Exhaust cut-out
Subframe connectors (especially if it's a t-top)
rear lca relocation brackets
EWP (along with the weep hole mod)
160* Tstat
lt4 knock module
1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers & valvespring upgrade on stock cam (save cam swap for the rebuild)
tune
I would say gears, but while I love the 4.10's that were in when I got it, I wouldn't waste a dime on the 10 bolt!!
t-top shades - - - zero performance gains, but if you don't have them your head will bake!!

Buy as much of it as you can used from members on here and you can save a fortune!! Alot of these parts aren't really wear items so they are usually in great shape.

^^^^ HAHA Love it!

That list is great except for the descreened MAF (keep the stock one unaltered!)

build your own cai, cutout, stall for a4 cars, poly TA mount, PCM tune's are about 10hp for 100 bux~not bad if you ask me.

Some guys run the cheap summit racing drag shocks in the rear.

Dropping weight

Nitrous... If you want the best bang for the buck, you would be wasting money on anything else.

150Rwhp/Tq for 500$ (kit/fuel pump/simple tune). Drop over a second off your ET and pick up 10mph. Can't beat it.
