Recommended injector sizing for a 400HP N/A motor =

400 x .07 = 28# injectors.

Just about every site sponsor sells injectors, like LS1speed.com, etc. I personally run the Lucas/Delphi injectors, but Ford SVOs would work fine too. Avoid the Accel injectors though - not too many good reviews from them.

The .07 formula comes from a friend of mine who has been working with LT1s for 16 years now. It is specific to the LT1 platform, using a .47#/HR/HP BSFC (versus most online calculators using .500) and a max duty cycle of 85% (most calculators use 80%).

Simple, yet very accurate.

The SVO redtops seem to be the most common option. I went with #39 SVOs, got them off a friend who had them on his LT1. The redtops would be fine for you

Find a new shop then. For ONLY 400 crank HP you don't need more than a 28# injector.

Here's a real-world example. Assuming a 20% drivetrain loss, my motor sees about 550 flywheel HP. So using the .07 formula, ideally, I would need at least 38.5# injectors, so I went with 42# injectors. At WOT, I see no more than 82% duty cycle, so the 42# injectors are perfect.

30# is relatively close to 28#, so 30's will work just fine. Now, if you went for some 42's or something, that would be overkill.

Go with the 30# injector then. It is far simpler than what you are making it out to be.

It's how long the injector is open (in %) versus when it is closed.
