Default timing cover

can you id this timing cover? I believe its off a 94 lt-1 that came from a buick road master. Im searching for an early cover that i can modify to run the efi connection ls1 ecu conversion. thanks

Looks good to me. The newer ones have the CPS on the bottom.

That's a 1995 timing cover (the part number is right there).

Yup or later 94 as the vented opti had the larger hole for the cam dowl in the middle. The 96+ have the CPS sensor port on the bottom as stated above.

so it will work for the ls1 ecu swap? or do i need an ever earlier one?

It was my understanding that you needed a 96-97 due to the CPS being on there? When I talked to them about it I believe that's what they told me..

The ls1 ecu swap will require a 96/97 timing cover. I have one for sale in excellent shape if you are looking for one. PM me.

You shouldn't have to pull it considering the crank sensor on the bottom of the cover is an easy telltale of the 96/97 cover.

either way its has to come apart to do the conversion, Im just figuring out if i need a cover with the kit or not

Understood. I just didn't want you pulling the cover on an already running car if you didn't have too. EFI connection sells really nice billet timing covers (I purchased one) but if you don't go that direction, you will need to source a new 96/97 cover as already mentioned. This is the one I have for sale just as an example.
