Default What do you think this car should run at the track?

Working on finishing up the z for the spring to take it to the track

It's a 93 Z28, 383/CC306/Ported heads (comparable to LE2), 1.6 Comp Magnum rr's, Built bottom end, 38# injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Meziere HD water pump, 58mm BBK TB, stock intake ported for 58mm tb, AC EGR AIR deleted, LT headers w/ 3" true duals full exhaust, rear seats deleted, Stage 2 700R4, will have a 3600 stall, aluminum DS, 10 bolt rear w/ 373's, Auburn pro posi, TA girdle, will have slicks, pretty much full street weight.

I'm hoping to break into the 11's without any weight reduction.... could that be realistic for this build?

Why does everyone say "comparable to LE2" on everything that is hand ported?

You realize just because it has similar flow numbers doesnt mean **** right? It's the shape of the port and a few other things that matters way more than flow.

Regardless... congrats on the build.

If it runs halfway decent you should be 11.20's I would think. Depending on if the rest of the car is setup to hook.

Everything about the heads is similar to the LE2's, that's why I said that. Thanks man if it runs anywhere near 11.20 I'd be really happy.

The suspension is 35/25mm Eibach swaybars, Bilstein HD shocks, Eibach pro kit springs, non adj lca's, adj panhard, adj torque arm, weld in SFC's, all poly bushings. Not exactly a track setup but I'm hoping I'll be able to dial it in to hook.

This is my first build and I've never been to the track before so I'm pretty excited. This summer should be a lot of fun.

I'm thinking somewhere around the ~11.5 to 11.8 mark.

11.2 out of that is a pipe dream, you may well hit your 11s goal but I would be shocked if you hit 11.2 even in great weather. If the engine was done very well you could hit very low 11s or even tickle 10s, but from what I see here I am going to guess the engine is average so you will see average performance.

Maybe I will run into you, WIR is close to home for me but I really like GLD a whole lot better.

If it runs mid 11's burn it. Or change whatevers holding your back.

Those heads with a good cam and average setups run mid / high 11's

Yeah it's really hard to get a gauge on what it's going to run right now, it's got a 2600 stall and street tires so I've never felt what it can really do when it hooks. I've also got to put all the suspension in when it warms up a bit.

96caprice - It would be cool to meet up with you one day this spring/summer at the track, maybe I can learn a thing or two. The motor was built well... As far as the heads go I will have to wait and see what the car runs at the track and puts down on the dyno. I'm hoping for around 400rwhp, but HP doesn't matter to me much....

2600? WTF...

I take back what I said then lol.

You need to get a real stall in it and a real cam. The heads are capable though.

What compression?

Again I don't know a ton about building engines but looking at the build sheet the motor was $4000 including labor and everything from the bottom up is brand new Comp Cams... cam, lifters, rr's, guide plates, studs, springs, retainers, locks, seats. Forged Eagle rods ect... I wish I knew the compression ratio, it's not listed.

Yeah man the trans was built and it included a 2600 stall... I'm going to be going with a 3600 in a few weeks. By the time summer rolls around I will have the suspension, 3600 stall, and stickies on her.

Only way is to pull the plugs and test it right? That would be a huge PITA with these headers.

just get a scope and look at the top of the piston, and try to get an idea of deck height. That will get you in the ballpark +/- a .5 point or so at least.

Figure it out. bore / stroke / combustion chamber volume / piston relief /deck height etc .

Your engine is similar to my 383 except I have a lil better cam and a lil better heads. Other than that we've got pretty much the same mods. After I do the over the radiator intake, EWP, lots of weight reduction, and some other things Im hoping for 10.99. My dyno numbers arent really correct though. I had to kill it at 6100 because the springs werent sufficient.
I think you'll go high 11's.

Should be somewhere between fast and slow.
You would be real well off if you sprayed it with that size stall though.
