Default fuel injector leak

i pulled my fuel rail up today, and when i primed the fuel rail cylinders 6 and 8 squirted fuel. i tried it again but they wouldnt do it again. but when i actually cranked the motor those two injectors shot more fuel than the others. does this mean its time to replace the fuel injectors? any help is grately appreciated. i also have a glowing red manifold, the same spot that 6 and 8 are at, so im guessing this could be related.

could be the problem but also could br the fuel regulator. If you take the hose off and it leaks that could be the problem as well

yeah it's time to replace, no fuel should come out just from priming

edit: he checked the fuel pressure in another thread and took the vacuum line off the regulator and didn't mention anything about gas shooting out so it should be good

Assuming you did the check with the injector harnesses still connected and the key ON to prime the system........

Might want to check those two injector pigtails too. If the wiring is shorted to ground with the key on, those two injectors will just hang open (the PCM fires them by pulsing a ground signal on one wire while the other supplies a constanf 12v+). The pink wire is the 12v+ and the other colored wire is the ground.

hmm.. didn't realize that faulty wiring would cause that! i had to re-wire two of my injectors because of cracked/shorting wiring, but mine wouldn't work at all.

learn something new everyday!

With they key on engine off probe the pink wire with a noid light and a known ground. It should light. Then probe the other colored wire to the pink wire. You should have no continuity (it should not light). If it does, the colored wire is shorted to ground somewhere in the harness. If it doesn't light and you're still getting fuel out of the injector with the key on engine off then the injectors are probably clogged/gunked up and need to be cleaned/replaced.

That's the easiest most straightforward way to test.

And since the injector is hanging open of course it will spray fuel when the fuel pump primes. It only runs for 2 seconds and then shuts off.

try to stick with a oem lt1 injector, a 24lb/hr injector intended for 50psi fuel pressure will flow differently than a 24 lb/hr injector intended to run at 70psi.

if you can't find any there's a chance i might part with my stock ones.
