Default Cam Swap....Have a question.....

i just finished my cam swap this weekend and fired up.but why wouldnt my car idle?the stock idle on my m6 car is 950rpm but it wouldnt hold any kind of idle without holding the pedal slightly.i sent my pcm off yesterday to get tuned but what is the tuner actually going to do to get my car to at least idle if it has a 950 idle stock?

by the way car is a 96 m6 car with a custom 230/236.thanks

If you don't have it tuned it won't idle properly. No use speculating until you get the proper tune.

well i got the pcm sent off to lt1pcmtuning.com yesterday...but i just wanted to know why it couldnt hold a idle thats all.

ive done several cam swaps in 5.0 mustangs and never had an issue on holding idle or having to get it tuned afterwards....so whats different with the lt1 that u have to do all this just to get it to halfway run

because your AFR is way off. even on my baseline tune just to start it i had to hold the gas for a few seconds and let it idle around 1500 before it would hold

Ford and GM use different idle strategies.

Ive seen some of his that were spot on and others needed some tweaking which is on par for a mail order. luckily you get some extra tries with his tunes to get things right or close to it. You get what 2 or 3 retunes with in a certain time frame correct?

I had good luck when I used Solomon a while back. Since then I had his tune tweaked/perfected locally.
