Default 4" y pipe...is it too much for a street car?

A friend of mine has a 4" y pipe made for my pacesetter longtubes and was wondering if it would kill power in my car? I will have a AI H/C by the end of summer spraying a 100 shot.

Think ive read not 100% sure that a single 3 inch will support 500 HP before its a restriction but not 100% on that

I'd say more like 300 hp.

4" isn't going to hurt anything. If you have the room, do it.

It won't hurt anything, but any gains depend on your exhaust.

You won't gain anything going from 3" collectors to a 4" Y then down to a stock skinny catback pipe.

Exhaust will only flow as well as the most restrictive point.

You alway post . Really 300 lmfao a simple bolt on car makes that through factory piping. 500 seems about right

I would use it a reap the rewards from better breathing, more air in more air out better power.

It amazes me that people throw on long tubes with 3-3 "1/2 collectors and funnel it down to a 3" catback. I can assure you you will create more horse power with a 2 1/2" dual set up over a single 3" set up anyday. Is there really anyone on here that has 500 hp and runs a single 3" exhaust, I highly doubt it, I don't think it can be done, and that's no BS. Duals yes, single no.

IIRC quik95lt1 gained 70rwhp by removing his hooker y pipe and 3" magnaflow catback. That was when he was about the 620hp level, it'd probably be more now!

Believe this is a pretty good guideline on how much each can support

Pretty sure your "rear mount turbo" negates a direct comparison here

Apples to oranges but I do very well all across the power band with 4" exhaust...and am exceedingly happy with the sound
