4" y pipe...is it too much for a street car?
A friend of mine has a 4" y pipe made for my pacesetter longtubes and was wondering if it would kill power in my car? I will have a AI H/C by the end of summer spraying a 100 shot.

It won't hurt anything, but any gains depend on your exhaust.
You won't gain anything going from 3" collectors to a 4" Y then down to a stock skinny catback pipe.
Exhaust will only flow as well as the most restrictive point.

It amazes me that people throw on long tubes with 3-3 "1/2 collectors and funnel it down to a 3" catback. I can assure you you will create more horse power with a 2 1/2" dual set up over a single 3" set up anyday. Is there really anyone on here that has 500 hp and runs a single 3" exhaust, I highly doubt it, I don't think it can be done, and that's no BS. Duals yes, single no.

Believe this is a pretty good guideline on how much each can support
