10308-1 spring question
I am running a cam that has .572 lift with 1.5 rockers, I am currently going to run them with 1.5s untill i can get 1.6 rockers.
I have a set of 10308-1 crane cams valve springs that i want to run but the max lift for them is .600 and with 1.6 rockers I will be running .610 lift, I know that I will be running these springs past their "MAX".
my rebuild is being done on a budget and the car account is almost empty (as always). Is it stupid of me to even think about running these springs .010 past their max?
cam is 242 242 572 572 112 solid roller cam and this car will not see high (6200+) rpm often at all

according to the crane install pdf these are the specs for this spring
For mechanical street roller equipped engines
- Recom’d installed spring pressure and height (valve closed)-------------145 lbs.@ 1.812”
- Open checking pressure and height ---------------------------------------------426 lbs.@ 1.110”
- Maximum recommended valve lift and RPM ----------------------------------.600” - 7500 RPM
For mechanical street roller equipped engines
- Recom’d installed spring pressure and height (valve closed)-------------145 lbs.@ 1.812”
- Open checking pressure and height ---------------------------------------------426 lbs.@ 1.110”
- Maximum recommended valve lift and RPM ----------------------------------.600” - 7500 RPM

Ideally you want at least .030" between when a coil binds and the max lift of the camshaft. On a setup like yours you'd be foolish to take a chance with going past their maximum capability. I would look for a spring that supports .640" or better.
And explain to me this, what is the point of going solid roller if you aren't going to use the RPMs that cam needs?

Yeah I didnt think It was a good idea, but figured I would throw it out there.
I went solid roller cause i got the cam and entire valvetrain setup (pushrods lifters guideplates roller rockers springs) for free from a friend. the cam will see high rpm occasionally.
This car will see the track occasionally as i can afford it, but mostly a street cruiser/weekend car. At the track it will see high rpms but mostly it will be used mildly.

Getting things from friends for free is nice and all, but if it doesn't suit what you needs why bother? I would have sold it all, gotten a far more mild hydraulic roller and THEN you could have (likely) used the 99893s.
JMHO...

I plan on using the 1.5s for quite a while, probably a year at least. I will get new springs when i get new rockers.
so what do you guys think of these springs per this application, keeping the 1.5 ratio rockers that make the lift .572 .572, spring limit is .600

cam card doesnt have spring suggestions on it
