Spit the Serp Belt AGAIN... any remedy?
This is the 2nd time I lost the belt on my 93 LT1. Everything is pretty much stock under the hood. (I have a Goodyear Gatorback belt) nothing relocated!
First time it happened it was my fault... I came out of a drift pretty abruptly and it kicked the belt as it gained traction quickly.
This time I was in a long drift and came out of it very smoothly, lost the belt and went through the next 2 turns with no power steering.
I've been getting more aggressive with the car and I don't want it to keep happening... I think there was a pulley with taller shoulders??? any links or other ideas would help.
Thanks ~Tom

Hmm... I liked the Gatorback for a long time, seemed like a good belt but it sounds like it could be the culprit along with putting a new tensioner on. Both simple fixes to an annoying problem, even if it's a rare occurence. I always get a lot of cracking with the Gates belts I put on the truck but I've heard they are very good.
Is there a way to tell if a tensioner is bad aside from bearing squeel? I think I remember adjustment marks in the cast for it to fall between.

look at your power steering pump pully, it should be flush with the shaft, if it isnt you need a new pully at least, might need a pump, i went through 3 belts before if figured my problem out lol
