Default Anyone familar with CSR E-Water pumps?

First off hello! First post here...Just picked up a moderately modded 93z and

absolutely love it. However have a question about my water pump that the

previous owner installed, its a CSR electric water pump. Anyhow tonight while

driving my temperature gauge spiked, so I limped my car home and began

looking at my pump. Inline fuse was blown so I changed it pump came on for a

min and shutoff with a small puff of smoke out of the top of the housing.

Possibly a stupid question but do you guys think its toast? Thanks a ton.

Oh and I drove it a about 5 miles without the coolant circulating, there's no milky

oil/coolant mix and no white smoke...think the heads are ok?

sucks.. but the good thing is, you can get a replacement motor for about $100... summit carries them... cool thing is, theyre a piece of cake to swap out.

The seal on the pump shaft failed, this is what my CSR did, it will blow the fuse on the pump every time once the coolant works itself inside the motor.

Send it to CSR for repair, they usually send you a new one and it was like $85.

5 miles on an already warm engine I would expect damage.

CSR used to sell rebuild kits pretty cheap.

Thanks for the replies, I figured as much but really don't know much about these cars yet. Wasn't planning on driving it until it was replaced. I can't tell of any noticeable damage, I would imagine i'd have some sort of milkshake in my oil if so....looks and smells clean, no new noises. Anyhow thanks ill order one up, appreciate the info.
