Default Did my Opti go????

97 LT1 w/ 68k on it. Never had the optispark go on me. I winterize it every winter and decided to start it up in February and no problems. I just tried to start it today and now it just cranks and cranks without starting. I'm assuming it is either the optispark, plugs, or icm. What's the best route to figure what it is?

Check the physical layer first.

1) is there fuel in the car
2) is there proper fuel pressure at the rail
3) do you have spark

Check those then report back

ALWAYS check things before just randomly throwing parts at it hoping it fixes it. Thats a good way to lose a good bit of money that could stay in you wallet.

Im having the same problem except i just replaced my opti two weeks ago. It got where it wanted to flood if it sat a day or two and was pretty hard to get cranked. Now it wont start at all. I have good fuel pressure and good fire at the plugs, but when you put the timing light on it, it looks like its firing a cylinder late in the firing order. Number one is firing what looks to be rite around 90 degrees late. The only thing i can think of causing this would be the ICM being it controls all spark under 400 RPMs. Maybe someone has had this problem before and can give us some insight.

Don't forget the coil test and always check for blown fuses. Coil test for an open in the windings at shbox.com...

How do I go about checking fuel pressure? I would think it is fine since I could smell it after several attempts of starting while feathering the gas pedal.

What else can I check? This makes no sense why it won't start.

You use the schrader valve on the rear of the passenger side fuel rail. It should have a little cap on it.

Get ICM tested at Autozone. Do the coil test that the guys above have mentioned.
you could rent a tester from Oreillys and test for codes. Make sure your injectors are firing. Take a look at the opti harness.
