Default Stuck between the XE230/236 & the XFI466... Help..

My wants..
I'm have a full bolt on set up right now with 3:42 gears.. Might upgrade to 3:73s later and I have a 2400-2600 stall.. I have stock aluminum heads and a stock bottom end.. Of course i will replace the rockers to the 1.6s, rods, ect.. Which of the 2 cams would have the best driveablility and bang in the 1/8 mile?

466 would suit your setup a lot better.

With a low stall, only 3.42 gears and 1/8 mile you are absolutely going to want the smaller cam.

But with those gears, such a low stall and a short race it would be completely inappropriate.
I mean he would be barely getting up to peak power in second gear if he actually got it up to peak. The smaller cam is a better fit to this use.

Install Bee Hive springs with the XFI. The lift/specs #'s for the XFI is with 1:6 RR

good idea to replace valve stem seals with spring swap.

@ 96CAPRICEMGR

Well that's the current set up I have.. I got the stall for free and my whole rearend came with the 3:42s.. Upgrading to 3:73s wouldn't b a problem neither would getting a bigger stall also.. Those things can b adjusted.. But as far as the cams which would do beat in 1/8mile and have better drivability ..

And when I mention 1/8mile im only referring to it as being similar to the street.. A light to light race can't be more then 1/8mile n less u live n an open area.. But I'm interested in a 1/8 cam and a 1/4 mile cam.. The distance doesn't really matter to me.. I just want to b able to b able to put up good numbers and take a few bolt on LS1s DOWN..

TQ is what is needed to get these heavy cars moving. lower gears and higher stall will contribute to getting any car moving off the line faster.

the 466, Crane 227, GM 845, Linginfelter 211 are all good cams for the mods you list

I have almost the same exact setup as you and I went with the 466. Will be installing as soon as my valvesprings get here.
