Default Results from the track last weekend!

Well it's probably not all that spectacular to some of you guys but I was pleased with the results.

I made 14 passes at Thunder Valley Dragway in Marion, SD but only a about half were worth a ****. I had quite a few consistent 13.6x's and 13.7x's and hit some 14.xx's mostly cause of line sleeping and traction issues. First run at about noon with awful humidity and 83F I ran a 13.61 @ 102 which was okay but finally the clouds came out and cooled it down a bit which helped. Stock clutch was really getting pissed at me throughout the day and starting slipping pretty good.

Best run of the day
13.40 @ 104.27 MPH
1.94 60 FT
Second Best
13.53 @ 103.45 MPH
1.98 60 FT
Third Best
13.54 @ 103.17 MPH
2.00 60 FT

All in all, I gained over 3 tenths of a second from last year in september before my mods this last winter.

About the car:
Bone *** stock 106K 93 LT1, Original stock suspension, functional ram-air box, 3:73's, Hurst short throw, 5 yr old bald used Nitto drag radials, stock
106K clutch, full weight, NGK TR55's, Dynatech Ceramic LT's, SLP LM1, Heated O2's, !EGR, !AIR.

Now after all that I decided on a goal I'd like to achive yet this year.
I want to be able to touch a 12.99 with what I have now, some free mods, a competition stage 2 clutch, and some much needed suspension work.

Can you guys give me a little advice on what I can do without touching the stock motor or adding nitrous? i think my goal is possible, just need steered in the right direction.

Id start with a tune and some suspension, lca's and relocation brackets. adjustable shocks. Those things are easy and cheap. bigs and littles would help alot too.

LCAs and LCA relocation brackets, and a torque arm. I always suggest starting with suspension.

That's what I was thinking also, because when the time comes for Heads and Cam I want to be able to put that power to ground. I know I could probably benefit from a tune also.

I think it's great actually! Especially since I beat my buddies 94 Z28 with identical mods and I do mean identical! Although he has an A4. (He couldn't break the 14's )

I think for the mods, lack of clutch and traction you did alright. I see in your sig MT radials, but you noted you used some old Nitto's ?

I would work on the suspension/tire combo for traction and a clutch that can hold...be careful though with that stock diff. and drive shaft in a 6 speed.

good air, clutch and better 60ft should get you much closer to your 12.99 goal

Yeah I need to update my sig, I had used MT's on it until last october then I bought my buddies Nittos off of his Mustang.

I'm trying to save up for a 9" cause I know my 10 bolt is on borrowed time although it has made well over 40 passes since the gears. I wish a new diff was more affordable.

i have the same goal as you do, make it into the 12s with the least about of boltons, and im also running almost identical times only with an a4. id say the next step would be suspension, LCAs and brackets

Damn! My car weighs in a 3460# without me in it, and I do have a 160 in it already so i'm good to go there! I was planning on a PCMFORLESS tune and then getting it dynotuned if i'm not happy with the results.

I've ran the same bolt-on mail order tune for 7-8 years. I did throw it on the dyno to see what the A/f ratio was. With the graph he can easily correct it for max performance. I do recommend that.

That's kinda what I was thinking, My dyno tuner should be able to tweek the chip I get from pcmforless right? being reflashable?

If your dyno tuner can burn chips, I'd just use him. Otherwise, he could just tweak the tune if need be.
