Default Anyone Ever Shatter their 4L60e Bellhousing.... I did...

So me and a couple buddys were heading to the track today and stopped at a red light, my buddy trumped it infront of me so i did like a 20 roll and hit mine a lil bit... next thing i know there clunking and clanging and tranny is whitling like crazy so i instantly pulled off the side of the road, thought I blew my dipstick out or something... got to looking and my tranny bellhousing is ****** shatterd... im pissed... ive never heard of that happening... im only putting down a lil over 400 rwhp and was on drag radials on the street so it wasent hooking at all..... luckily we were pulled off in a trucking company so the ride home on a flat bed wasent to insane... never heard of this happening before...

It happens...mine cracked once from uneven torquing. They aren't as robust as you think.

yep this happened to me 3 weeks ago, i just ordered a aftermarket bellhousing and will be putting that on my trans(there 600 times stronger then stock) and i should be all set after that.. u might want to look into why it broke.. mine was the driveshaft was too long. I have a thread in the auto section if u want to see my trans and everything. sorry for the bad luck lol

A bone stock t56 is going to be waaay stronger than a stock or mildly upgraded 4L60, I've run mine pretty hard for years on dr's, its still bone stock and not a hint of trouble with it. It is of course way easier to launch an A4 and pull better times than with an M6. Depends what it more important to you, for me I've always stuck with the M6, Im sure I would be in the 11's much easier with an A4 though, but the M6 is way more fun to me. Im not at the 400 rwhp level though, maybe in the 370 range at this point.

Broke 2 th350 bells in the same car. One busted the whole bell off, wheelhopping stock suspension g-body. 2nd one buddy dropped the front u joint at 100+mph. Car got parted after that one. Those cases aren't that strong.
