When your gauge is reading low the first thing to do is get a manual gauge to verify whether or not it's accurate.

The PCM has no idea what the oil pressure is since the sending unit is not driven by the PCM. It is a stand-alone sensor that doesn't have anything to do with how the engine runs.

Did you have the engine tuned?

Did you look at the cam bearings when you installed the cam? Did you use camshaft lube on the entire camshaft? Seems to me you need to do proper diag with a gauge like someone has already suggested. If you do have that low of pressure on start up you might not want to rev it up or let it run very long till you figure out why. I have 2 great lt1 engines with great oil pressure if you end up looking for one.

I had some what same problem during my cam swap. Start up ran 40psi then once warm running temp it dropped to 15 or so. I did the mannual gauge and it read 35-40psi all the time. Trouble shoot your gauge first like stated.. A gauge can be picked up for 20 bucks for testing purpose. Good luck man.

Note my engine was stock with bolt ons and 143,000 miles..lol

Just do what everybody is tell you to do. Go by a mechanical gauge and hook it up and see what is reads then go from there

The check gauges light is coming on BECAUSE the motor is about to stall, not the other way around.

your check gauges light is coming on because you dont have any oil pressure!! and if you don't have any oil pressure the resistance from metal on metal of all your internal parts is whats making it want to stall

honestly... you've probably already done a lot of damage if you're reving it up without oil pressure. check and see how metallic your oil is

Back off the rocker arms a little, sounds like you got one or more to snug on the verge of hanging a valve open.
