Default Ordered parts for cam/boltons.

Hello! I have a 1996 camaro z28 with moroso cai and a cutout. I ordered: long tubes, intake elbow, getting zo6 rims/nitto 555 tires, and a lt4 hot cam kit, vig 2200 stall.

Now I know people hate on the hotcam kit, but I want a dd that's fast on the track, too.

My question is... What should I run/how much power am I getting to the ground?

Thanks!!

Im not sure that a 2200 stall would be worth pulling the transmission for.

you should be over 300rwhp with probably low 13 to high 12s.

Sweet. That was my goal. Should I return it and get a higher one?

I would. Ive ran a 2500-2800 no name brand stall, and a nice SS3600 Yank. I was daily driving the SS3600 and loved it. I just couldnt hook for **** with it with street tires and stock suspension. Id go at least 2800-3200.

Iam going to go with my trans shop recomends for now...they say they can take a 2000 s-10 converter and rework it and get 2500 to 2600 rpm. That would be cheap for me and should work good on a stock bolt on car, i have a really hard time cutting a good light even leaving at 1400 the brakes will not hold any more than that.

You could get up to 330 with the LT4 HC kit out of the auto.

The Yank SS 3600 is by far the best converter for the LT1. I ran the S-10 DBLF converter for a couple years and it stalled around 2500 rpm, but the difference between the two is night and day.

No no no ...... Take the advice above and get a proper 9.5" converter. There is more knowledge on this board than at 99% of "trans shops". We tend to keep each other honest.
A 12" converter like the S-10 stalled to 2500-2600 rpm by a "trans shop" will generate more heat and drive like crap compared to a Yank SS3600 and will severely underperform as well.
I agree you should get 330 rwhp with the Hotcam, and with a good 9.5 or 10" converter and modest traction (ie. DR's) easily be in the 12's.

This is an awful idea.

There are several companys that make a budget 9.5" converter that would be better then doing that. I would consider fishing around. You dont need one with the billet cover or ANTI balloon plate. I would consider the plate if you decide to use nitrous. There is a company called Precision from New Hamption, IA that Ive seen their budget converter pull some decent 60ft times for a nice price tag.

I wouldnt even consider doing the s10 converter.

......
Yes. I didn't mean to imply Yank is the only option. Edge also makes a good budget 9.5" converter for about $500, which I've used before and had good results with.

Dont base a converter on how well your brakes hold the tires from spinning. Thats the very last thing you should be worrying about when picking a converter. Go with a 2800 or higher.

That's certainly not the case. Read up on how converters work, specifically "lock up."
