Default Rear gears for auto. 3.73?

What are the best 3.73 rear gears? If seen motive and Richmond. Are there more? And are they better?

Is your car bolt ons or do you have a heavy build? 373's are a great gear regardless of your setup though... I have 373's with my 383 stroker (450rwhp) and they are perfect. Definitely makes a huge difference without losing much up top.

I have 3.42's and wish I would have went with 3.73's. (started with 2.73's)

Was scared 3.73's would be too much because I'm a *****.

Mods in my sig.

Go 3.73's

Don't think it is much different from LS1 to LT1.

I heard to find GM gears, because less problems such as whinning. There will be someone else that will probably tell more details about that. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on here that can help, be patient, so you make sure you made the best choice. 3.73s are the best choice for auto setup from what I have been told here. 4.11s are best for m6

In my opinion you need to drive a car with 3.73s then with 4.10s and see what you like. I personally love my 4.10s with the auto. It is a beast out of the hole and pulls to about 120ish like a raped ape. Doing 80 on the freeway was about 3k rpms but if you chill at 60-70 it won't be bad. Take a look at all the options first. And with a stall, 4.10s will tighten the stall up a bit too so it doesn't feel so loose during in town driving.

What's your top speed now?
Also... How many tenths would I shave off with 3.73? And the same with 4.10s? Saying I can hook decently.

These cars have something called overdrive, with it top speed with 4.10s is still WAY faster than you should ever go on public roads. 5000rpms in 4th would be like 135mph with the A4.
So that is not worth even discussing.

Now 80mph being like 3000rpm that is worth considering and might be more than some care to put up with.

In the Impalas with their stock 3.08 gearing using drive on the highway is pretty darn close to where you endup in overdrive with 4.10s, since you have 3.23s using drive would be more rpm than you would see in OD with 4.10s but would likely still give you an idea.

IMO for a car that sees a lot of miles 3.73s are a nice gear for most.

Then again a friend just took second in smallblock NA at dragweek and with his TH350/stall/gears I think he cruises at 4400rpm and he was fine with that, no way I could put up with that though.
