Default fuel pump trap door plate dimensions. help!!!

Ok I have the writeup and dimensions to cut the hole to access the pump but what is the size (width x length) of the metal plate that I have to cover it up?

I'm just in a weird situation. I'm on leave with the military until Monday and my car is in san diego. The car is stuck on the navy base parking lot. I have limited tools and no electricity to cut stuff so I just want to come prepared and have everything pre cut to knock it out if it is the pump.

Any help would be great...

Just get drill with some bits, some tin snips, a quarter inch rachet and 5-10 mm sockets I believe its a 6mm to get the simple out. Just drill a hole in the middle of the raised area and work from their. The snips will cut it like butter. Real easy the rest is straightforward. Good luck.

If my memory is correct, its like 13" tall and 7" wide. I can double check tomorrow if you like? Hell, I can even take a pic of mine, lol.

Yeah, if its not too much trouble for you to double check the measurements that would be great. I just want to make sure the piece of metal i have is big enough.

Search "trap door method."
Probably one of the most searched subjects on a f-body forum.
A cordless drill and tin snips are all you need.

If your car is stuck in a parking lot, and needs a fuel pump, just bring a 2nd person and a lump hammer. Crawl under and whack the tank with the hammer while the 2nd person cranks the car. That will get a bad pump to fire up most of the time so you can get the car somewhere civilized to work on it without a tow truck.

I know. I said i have the write ups.

Cutting the hole to size is not the problem. I need to know how big the hole actually is so i can bring the correct size sheet of metal to cover it. The only info the write ups give is cut "1in from this bend and Xinches from this bend..." there is no way to figure out the actual size of the hole

How big is the acutally hole once you cut it, thats what i need to know. Im half way across the country right now. So i cant get to it or see it.

I know what you said, and I'll say it again. Do a search. In 3 minutes of searching I found this

Good luck

If you're in a bind, just cover the hole (temporarily) with a few strips of tape to keep the exhaust fumes out, just until you can measure the correct dimensions for the plate.

Just another option of course.

9" wide x 13" tall. I just made it out a piece of alum. You can use sheet screws, self tapers, or whatever.
