Default LTs Too Quiet?

I just finished up the exhaust on my LT1 Camaro today. I have to say that I'm really disappointed. It sounds ok, but it's way too quiet.

It's a bit of a ghetto-Frankenstien setup:

Stock LT1 engine
Pacesetter LTs w/ EGR
American Racing Dual Catted LS1 Y-Pipe
Magnaflow LS1 Catback

I know I can just put a cutout on it, but I was really hoping that this combo would have been a little bit louder from the start. Is anyone else really let down with their setup?

I had pacesetter lt, y pipe, and flowmaster muffler and I got a lot of compliments on how it sounded. Quiet at idle but loud at wot, then I put a borla cb and it was always loud. Can you run it without the cats?

I have yet to be at WOT with the new exhaust yet. I was hoping it would be loud all the time. Legally, I have to have cats. It's unfortunate.

I have Jet-hot LT's, hooker y-pipe, SLP 3" TOTL w/ Magnaflow 12288 muffler, no cats and IMO is loud even when idling. But I have the whole heads/cam setup so that might be the difference.

I've never had cats on my car, but I'm sure they're not helping you out volume wise.

My stock LT1 is really quiet at idle with the Hooker Aerochamber + LPP lt's and ORY, but it's pretty loud going over 2500rpm's and absolutely screams at WOT. That's exactly how I want it to be. I have a cut out too if I want to be loud all the time.

It might be in my head. I'm used to driving a H/C/I Z06 with no cats, and I've been driving this car with open headers for a while.

You know it's too quiet when I can actually carry on a conversation in the car. The cutout should help that.

Ontario emissions laws suck *****. A friend of mine said the same thing when he put the magnaflow on his. He ditched it for a Borla and it was night and day. Im running a PS LTs, Dual Catted Y, and Borla Open. Cant beat the sound IMO. Add a e cutout in the right tail pipe and you can have it stealthy quiet or wide open at the flick of a switch.

If they don't do a Visual inspection under the car put cut outs before the cats ? I personally wouldn't expect much from that set up. The cats are the killer. Since you need to keep them ( I guess they do a visual? ) then get an slp, Texas speed or similar style with no real muffler. The cats are enough of a muffler.

It's used actually. Won't get much louder than it is now.

Borla is the same as doing a cutout (more or less). I'll just put a cutout on the Magnaflow. Was hoping I wouldn't have to, but it's just not living up to what I had pictured.

Where did you put the cats on your car? Do you have any pictures? My drivers side one hangs low.

There is a visual and a sniffer. They're not friendly. I don't really care to go through the effort of doing another catback swap. I have no doubt that an LM1 or LM2 would be much louder, but it's just not with the effort.

Running fullsize generic 3" magnaflow hi-flows. Passenger side right off the collector and the driver side after the bend. Unless your running bullets its going to scrape a little bit on steep inclines. I rarely do and neither does my dads which has same setup just with Jet Hot Lts.

Thanks for the pictures! I did virtually the same thing with ARH cats.

If you're gonna run cats, get a GMMG catback and be done!
