Default 1.6RR on Stock Cam, GOT SOME NOOB QUESTIONS?

I am going to be buying a set of 1.6rr's and want to know...

1) Do I have to have the car tuned after install 1.6rr on the stock cam/valvetrain?

2) How much power will I gain after installing them?

1.6rr on mine does make the car feel more lively probably just a good 10hp dont really know though but you do see a noticeable difference in the rpms that is due to getting a bit more lift off the stock cam..... as for tuning i didnt...but still the car runs great with them

I would suggest a tune or at least swap in the LT4 knock module. Roller rockers do create added valvetrain noise (similar to a sewing machine) Sometimes this will cause false knock and the computer will pull timing. Althought this may not always happen, the LT4 knock module is cheap assurance that flase knock wont be detected.

I put lt4 1.6 rollers on the stock cam and i shift at 6000 rpm and i gained .2 tenths in the quarter. A noticable difference.

I put 1.6rr on min on stock cam, no re-tune and ran fine. It will help if you do but don't have to. Also, I got tune from MadZ28 and it was night and day difference, he does good work, just make sure you do tell him everything you have that is not stock. Very quick on the tune delivery too.

It will always help with a tune even a bone stock car would greatly improve with a tune but no u would not need a tune by adding 1.6 rockers it won't change anything but more lift on the cam a stock cam in a 96 ta would be .447 an .459 lift With stock 1.5 and with 1.6 rocker would make it .476 an .489 lift so def would help

You do not need a tune or a knock module...but you won't get the full benifit from them because the pcm WILL hear knock. But if you retune your car there's zero need for an LT4 knock module. These tuners are good enough to get the job done without one. It wouldn't hurt to have one...but it wouldn't help either. You might want to save some money to put some new valvesprings one when you put the rockers on. I personally have not had an issue with 1.6's ans stock springs but alot of guys have. The stock springs are pretty much made to handle stock lift and not much more. The LT4 springs are more than capable of handling that and they are like $42 for a set. Cheap insurance to make sure you don't go blowing up valvesprings.

GM Performance #809-12495494

$37 from jegs. You can reuse the stock retainers. They'll handle up to .525 lift and probably a little more. These are the springs that come in the LT4 hotcam kit so if you were to ever decide to run a hotcam or something the same size you can reuse the springs and they'll hold up.
