This set up will be going in a 87 Monte Carlo ss so hood clearance is not an issue.
The idea is a 355 build with the heads reworked for standard sbc intake, a wieand 144 or 177 blower with something like fast ez-efi inductions, big questions would be are the heads string enough to be welded and rethreaded for forced induction and is the harmonic balancer in the same place as a early sbc. I am looking for feedback positive or negative its just an idea so don't bash it to hard.

Why might I ask are you going for a old school roots blower when you can just do a much more popular/easier centrifugal supercharger or turbo(s)? Just to be different? Seems like a pain in the *** to fabricate. Just curious.

Really to be different I'm not sure how hard it will be its just an idea at the moment, I would think if you have the heads converted to the original sbc pattern it wouldn't be to bad but that's why I am throwing out to you all

The novelty of being different quickly wears off once you start running into cost (and problem) issues.

I have seen it done but I think it was to a vortec intake. They make a vortec manifold for the wieands dont they? It would be easier to convert to that since I think the the bolt patern for the vortec intake is the same as the LT1. May be some one knows off the top of their head? I might be fubaring that.

why not just stick with tried and true? These motors have been around for a while and people have had a lot of time to figure out what works and what doesn't; just sayin.

IMHO if you were to do a roots blower in that car on an LT1 most of the time people would walk by and look at it and just think it was just a regular SBC with a blower on top, so if your stuck on a roots blower then I suggest going to a gen 1 platform instead of the LT1. If your stuck on the LT1 platform in a G-body and want to be different then I think turbo or procharger is much better options with the factory efi or a blowthru carb setup if you wanna be even more different.

you might want to pull some measurements on the water pump first. the lt pumps sticks out pretty far compared a conventional sbc. you could do a remote pump but it will drive the cost up. as for the crank. its a std sbc snout. so you could run a standard damper and pulley setup.

i would swap to a sbc and go with a "real" roots blower.
or, stick with the LT1 and put a centrifugal on it with the factory fuel injection.
