Found some ported golen heads worth the money??
I happened to find some lt1 heads that are said to be ported around 190-195cc with 54cc combustion chamber and have Manley valves and comp springs said to be good to 620-630 lift for 350$ I already have a custom ground le cam 223/230 573/568 110 lsa would these heads improve hp to at least above 400 hp I have dynoed my car before just cam only with patriot gold springs on stock heads and it put down 376 torque/369whp would it be smart to go with these heads or just go ahead and spend 1300$ on some 205cc le2 heads and spend the extra thousand bucks....

I would go ahead and have Lloyd or Advanced Induction do you a set of heads. That way you know exactly what you are getting. I am a AI man but Lloyd also has a good product. Would hate to see you buy these heads and get them to find a problem and have to spend a bunch of money to get them to work. And I do know AI or Lloyd's heads will out perform them. I have had both.

How do you know there Golen heads? As far as performance potental, I'd be leary unless the owner can produce real world flow numbers not some made up crap. Intake to head port match would not be my area of concern. The pockets are where horsepower is made and if the springs and valves are installed the port job is hard to see. Pop a few valves just to check uniformity and cc ing the heads would be a good idea. If that checks good, gett um.

Ive heard some bad stuff about golen too
That's why I bought a set of stock lt1 aluminum heads, gasket matched porting, and a 3 angle valve job
For the price it couldn't be beat
Im selling them if your interested

Exactly! People don't realize Porting is an art, People just think, hog them out and good to go, This is why they have flow benches, you have to understand flow, velocity, swirl, tumble of air characteristics. Air does not flow like water. I worked as an Engineer on R & D on some fighter jets, It had a chaff dispenser, This disperses like aluminum foil bits to avoid radar, Point is at the angle of the airlflow the chaff was following the jet at speeds in excess of 450 mph and the streamers were facing forward instead of trailing the aircraft, Point is, What everyone is saying, I would avoid unless you have proof..

However to the OP,For $300 they may be worth picking up since it has valves and springs providing theY are still good cores to send to AI or Lloyd elliot to port or check out....

The port work and valve job was done by superior turbo in michagin
They ported all the way into the head
Not just around the outside like most people do
They definatly flow better
And for what I'm asking for em,
You can't complain

Like already mentioned they would be a good core as they already have good parts on them which is a great deal. IMO i wouldnt waste the time to slap them on as is. Do it right and while your driving your car save up and have lloyd port them to the LE2 level to go with his cam he ground for you. This way your not second guessing yourself and will likely exceed your goal or be very close and not be disappointed in the end result. My two cents...

I never thought of that
I was just gonna use them as they were
But seeing as I'm doing a lq4 swap I don't need them
Which is the only reason I'm selling them
$375 picked up (fort Meade fl)
Or $435 shipped
There's been almost a grand spent to these heads

I'm just going by what the guy I bought them from told me
I honestly don't know much about porting
There was definatly work done inside the head
I have pictures to prove it
He told me all that was done was gasket match porting and the valve job
So I assumed you were supposed to go all the way into the head but most home porters do not?
