Default Possible oil leak coming from dipstick tube, supposed to be an o-ring?

Oil is dribbling on my starter and Im sure its coming from the dipstick tube as the starter is higher than the pan and my valve covers are dry.

I know it bolts to the block but when I installed this new one it didnt have an o-ring, is there supposed to be one like on my LS1 engine?

There's a metal ring about an inch up from the bottom of the tube to block it from traveling too far into the block. That's it.

I used red high temp RTV around the entrance to the block and haven't had a leak.

I just use a little RTV around the tube and no leaks.

A small amount of RTV on the tube should keep it from leaking.

I was thinking about that before putting it in but it never leaked before.

just as an FYI, mine looked like it was leaking from the dipstick with the started soaked but it ended up being an intake manifold leak. i just wanted to toss that out there.

I checked behind the intake with a mirror and found nothing.
