im gonna put a new timing set in my 94 camaro and im deleting and plugging the water pump drive hole so a standard 350 timing set will work. im just wondering if i can get one from autozone? just tell them its for a 94 1500 truck with a 350 or what??? your thoughts??

'94 uses a spline drive opti driven from the cam sprocket. If you have not upgraded to a pin drive opti you are stuck with the LT1 timing set.

You shouldve mentioned that from the beginning that you are running the 24x setup. With the 24x setup you are limited to single row timing set unless you buy the billet tpis cover. I just finished my 24x swap and had to convert from double row to single. Many of us have upgraded to the Cloyes 9-3157 timing set with lots of success. $106 @ Summit. Thats what id recommend.

I shelled out all my money on the 24x. That's why I'm going cheap. Plus I think next yr or right after I'm gonna add a blower cam to my 6psi blower. I'm a full bolton car with a power dyne supercharger. 6psi is all I want out of it too before everyone's starts talkin **** about it. I also only got $600 in the sc. Plus a local guy does all my dyno tuning. He's a great tuner too.

Exactly how many stock timing sets have you seen break?

I for one have used an original timing set to make that kind of power.

The stock chain is meant to take the substantial additional load of the waterpump and is a stout piece. If someone wants to tighten it a little a $20 Cloyes S505 lower gear will do it.

I would not use a parts store one but I would feel fine with an original or replacement GM/Cloyes.

If you delete the water pump drive & have the 95 timing cover get a cloyes double roller for a factory roller block & hell since you've done away with the opti you could even run a vortec style cover & have less leakage LoL Im gonna run a Cloyes hex adjust type & still run the opti

before my opti died i only made 340whp and 360wtq. opti died the next day. go figure..
i cant run a double roller without a new timing cover. if/when i get a new cam ill gonna buy the 24x timing cover and i actually already have a comp cam double roll but i bought it before i knew it wouldnt work. i just need something that'll work till then but will also be strong/cheap..

Yes fox it **** the bed. I don't know if it was the opti dying or high mileage or what.

no, it is just slightly oversized to tighten the chain.

If anything it would improve timing by taking slack out of the chain. How do you think it is going to screw it up?
