Hydroboost anyone?
So im going to be swapping in my new motor very soon and i am pretty sure it wont make enough vacuum to run the brakes.
So after hours and hours on research i came across the hydroboost system that runs off the powersteering pump. and it seems like the only good option for be.
and i was just wondering if anyone on here has done this
conversion on a f body?
if so what all parts did you need and how easy was it to do. I was hoping to find a writeup on it somewhere on these forums like everything els but no luck.

I asked awhile ago. The astro can booster will bolt up to the bracket that is riveted to the factory booster. You can Keep the master the just plumb the lines to the ps pump. Actually quite easy. I plan on doing the swap myself once I get the fire lit under my rear end.

Cool thanks I will look into the astro van setup.
The vacuum canister is a terrible idea for a street car. Because their only
good for 1-2 pumps of the brakes then they need to build up vacuum again.
I also looked into a vacuum pump but came to the same conclusion that I would be relying on a small electric pump to run my brakes. And that just don't sit well with me.

A vacuum canister works if you are teetering near the edge of not having sufficient vacuum. Under what street conditions are you constantly pumping the brakes where a canister wont have a chance to recover?
I would honestly question the streetability of a setup that made so little vacuum. That is why I said run the car first.
Lots of time we see guys spending lots of money "fixing" problems that don't exist.
IF the vacuum is that low then the Astro setup sounds promising. Then again if it is so very simple why are we relying on being told it is simple rather than having 10 guys say "yeah that is what I DID?"

Yes of couse i plan on checking how much vacuum its pulling before i spend money on something i might not need.
But im asking because if the motor doesn't make enough vacuum i dont want to be trying to figure it out last minute. And i have my doubts about it making enough vacuum.
i never really considered going with manual brakes. How does that work?
im assuming there will be a special brake master cylinder i will need right?
but im really looking for some people that have dont this conversion on an
f-boby i know its pretty popular on other platforms but i dont see much for our cars.

if your not changing calipers you should only need to change the pedal ratio. it should be around 6.5 to 1 range. you can get away with less but the pedal will be stiffer. i am at 5.6 to 1 with my stange eng. brakes all the way around. personally i prefer the feed back you get from manual brakes.
