i'm not positive on this but from what i've read about the fuel gauge and the sensor the real problem lies on the shape of the tank... i believe i found that infor on shbox but i hope someone can chime in here with a little more info about the situation

I've read online this little trick I've yet to try. Fill the car up and take it home immediately. Remove the dash so you can get to the fuel needle and gauge cluster. Take the gauge needle off the gas gauge (that's like this "/" all the way full) and pop it off and put it back on so its like this "l" pointing right at the F mark. This way when the gauge bottoms out you'll still have a few gallons of fuel left.

Makes sence, though I think I'd rather have the first half a tank on F than have the last half on E, at least ill know when it gets down to 1/8th or so I need to fill up rather than wondering how long it's been sitting on E

Mine is way off. full tank of gas reads waaayyy past full, and ive ran out of gas twice with the needle not even at E yet. It was a concern, i thought about moving the needle or bending the sending unit arm, but with the 255 not in a bucket i never let it get below 1/4 tank now. Problem solved.
