I just saw an add for a procomp opti. I guess is an Australian knock off of the MSD Pro Billet. A company on Corvette forum has them for $125. I will see if I can find the company.

Beware of aftermarket junk, which a lot of people in this thread seem to be recommending.

Whatever opti you get rotate the rotor to ensure the opti wheel is not coming into contact with the opti sensor. You should hear no noises whatsoever when turning it by hand. Then take it apart and loc-tite the rotor screws.

make sure the rotor wasn't pressed on off time, mine was like that and it caused me to practically rip my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong, took the opti off like a thousand times trying to figure it out....

So you've installed the Chevy Performance opti you recently bought from Summit?

Did you use any additional sealant on the case, like RTV or a similar gasket maker? I took mine apart to verify the optical sensor was a Mitsubishi, and haven't put it back together yet. I'm just kinda curious what everyone does, if anything, as far as sealing the case.

Do you use red or blue locktite on the rotor screws? I bought some red, and I'm wondering if blue might have been a better choice. At the end of the day, it probably doesn't matter.

Red loctite is high strength and on bolts heat is required to soften it up for disassembly. Blue loctite is medium strength and can be removed without heating. On the small opti screws I would probably us Blue.
I ran a bead of RTV around the top half of my opti cap only til alittle past the 3 and 9 o'clock positions to keep anti freeze out. I didn't run it around the bottom to avoid trapping any moisture inside of the cap. As I'm typing this it occurs to me that I've only considered water ingression from above and not below. Oh well the car hasn't seen rain in 2 years.

YES, definately use thread locker on the rotor screws. you can use red. It's really not that strong. I use Loctite brand red on everything, especially the MX bikes. Never have an issue breaking anything loose. The stuff you have to watch out for is the Caterpillar stuff. Their stuff is made to stay...permanantly.

BUt like Guppy said, blue is probably better for those little bitty screws

I took it apart. Didn't really pay attention to the seal or the sensor. Just took it apart to loc-tite the screws. I used red.
