Spec or CC

I don't have any experience with comp clutches but the Spec 3 I used (bought new) was great...but you will hear some people who would not agree. My thought is that if you allow proper break in time the Spec clutch will be great. The main complaint I've heard is chatter but again I never had any chatter as I made sure to break in the clutch disc as spec suggests.

EDIT:
Found one.
"
LT1; CCI utilizes an OE style plate: Stage 3 will hold 300-350hp and Stage 4 will hold 400-425hp."

The Stage 4 clutch is a great clutch, but it is extremely aggressive. There's no middle ground with this clutch. It's either engaged or disengaged. Wouldn't recommend using with a 10-bolt. I've used a Stage 3+ clutches for the last 6 years and have been extremely happy with them. Very user friendly and hold well.

Well by spring I will have an S60 and a chromoloy driveshaft in. ET Streets and I have a Mallory 685 sitting here, so 2 step launches. I plan on dumping the clutch at the track obviously. I also cruise with the car though its not a straight strip car.

me personally id say anything but spec......ive seen nothing but horror shows in friends cars and my GTO ate a spec 2 in about 8k miles 7k of that was bolt on at 370rwhp the next 1k miles with 425rwhp destroyed it.....and it'd chatter on hot days trying to move the boat from a stop..it slipped on me at the track one day was about 85* i let the clutch out and mashed it the car hooked and slipped it badly...i got a mccleod rst twin in it now.....its pricier but its lighter and drives stock, if it werent for a light flywheel you'd never enven know it was in there......and it bites if need be good to 700rwhp which i will NEVER make.....mccleod has my buisness from this point forward with their twin

I was also sold on McLeod's street twin till I talked to them about it. They do not reccomend it for drag racing with slicks. I learned that the cars using it for racing were either LS cars or had converted to an LS input shaft so they could use an LS clutch. CC didn't offer a clutch for slicks besides their unsprung puck style which would not be street friendly. I went with Spec despite the very mixed reviews here and other sites. Their staff was quick to answer questions and after a half season of low 11 second passes at 3400 pounds on ET Streets and a 2 step it feels great. Just make sure what ever you get install it carefully, keep all surfaces clean, and break it in properly. Improper break in is probably the biggest reason why most clutches reguardless of brand fail early. Repeated stop and go driving is a must.

Not to mention it was pretty worn down after a year, 3500 miles and hardly any racing. My Kevlar Spec Stage 2 is holding up but I only have about 600 miles on it so far.
What's the longevity of the Competition Clutches even with racing? I hear nothing but good things.

its the 2600, I bought it from a vendor and noticed that they mixed up the names for the same part number... but its this one http://www.competitionclutch.com/pro...d=310&sid=2600
look around for a better price from a vendor

I've had three spec clutches and none of them have given me problems. The latest one I have I thought may of been dragging, but found out it's not. Only brands I'll use are Spec or Ram. **** a McCleod. There have been complaints about Spec LSx clutches ever since they first started offering them.

Well at this stage,
I have headers, intake, tune.
By spring will have,
gears, DRs.
Hoping to get a cam and/or nitrous in also.
So I'm trying to find a clutch I won't have to change out till the next stage in the build.

I probably would have gone with a Spec if I could have afforded it, but I'm very happy with the CC so far for the price. So it all depends on your budget, they both seem like solid choices though.
