Default Well its been great while its lasted. Good Bye LTx Crowd

Been dealing with the LT1 crowd for about 10yrs now and owned my current 94 in sig for the last 5 yrs. Have modded my dads 95 in sig for last 8-10 years and still have it. Have had a great time on the forums learning and building one nice built street car. I know ive been a pain sometimes but i learned alot and have to thank alot of you for your input and criticism.

Although im moving on from the LTx scene right now im going to old school and have a friend that ive been making a deal with for a really clean solid 1978 Trans Am 455 4 Speed. I always wanted a 2nd gen T/A soon as i was 16 (now 25) but couldnt afford one or have the appreciation i have now for them. Built a badass lt1 car that i drove hard like they should but i found out the more you do that the more its in the garage breaking something finding the next weakest link. It was a blast and will never regret anything other then spending a fortune to do so and having to resort to parting the car out to get most of my money invested out of it. This time around i just wanted a fun old school car to take out on sundays and fart around with. One day i will do a lt/ls 6spd swap to make it better on fuel and make some power over the turd stockish 455 but for now ill enjoy it the way it came back in the day.

Been debating the partout for the last two years now and after a year breaking one thing after the other and pushing it more then driving it i made the final call go through with it. Put my built motor up for sale start of this year and had a guy come yesterday to look it over and give it a listen. Was very happy with it and he gave me a deposit of it and will have the next month or two to get it out and ready for him. He has already expressed serious interest the built trans i just redid this year and tone of other parts. Right now were focused on getting the the engine deal done and take it from there.

Anyway to end this novel off just wanted to thank everyone for the help along the way and ill try and continue to post up from time to time.

Cheers

Sorry to see you go, but at least you'll still be messing with cars. You can hang around since you are the main force behind your dad's LT1.

good luck with everything, but i wouldnt bank on a '78 t/a with a 455 being more dependable than your LT1 car...... hopefully it was put together well.

Never said it would be reliable just this time around I wanted a classic to play with. Plan to spend half the part out on a new toy and put the other half in the house fund.

most importantly - enjoy the journey! I think you'll miss the handling out of the box and the interior amenities compared to that 70s car, but they are fun in their own way!

If I found a cheap built lt/ls car I would entertain it. Now is the time to part it as ive noticed over past two years the lt1 community is dying off so this is likely my best chance to get my cash out of the car before they hit rock bottom. I have noticed a few of the big names trying to get rid of there ltx built cars and getting peanuts for them. For awhile there i was wanting to buy Joes 95 TA untill he decided to keep it as he couldnt get what he wanted out of it which is shocking. What i got into my car i should have 10 sec ride but spent it foolishly not knowing what i do now. You can get lucky at the right times when someone is selling there car at a fraction of whats in it and be ahead of the game and have money left my partout to put towards other things in life that are more important while still having a toy.

Why did you decide to part out? I was looking forward to seeing what it would do.

Drag racing isn't a family sport. I bought three quads and have hours and hours of fun. Drag racing is a cruel joke. You spend tens of thousnds of dollars to spend the least amount of time in your car. If I do it over it will be a junkyard ls with a cam and a 200 shot but as of now I have zero interest.
