Header questions....
Ok all. My questions are about the difference in shortys, mids, and LT's. Now I know enough to know the best power gains are from LT"s however they are also a pain in the *** when it comes to emissions, Y pipes and ground clearance. Now I guess the big question here is are mids even worth the price and hassle. I have a 95 Z28 vert with 59xxx miles and its competely stock aside from the SLP LM1 I just put on. I dont really want to take anything away from the car since its darn close to perfect but I am considering doing some general matinance such as plugs, wires, water pump (even tho its not leaking I dont want to take a change of it blowing out my opti lol) and have heard that headers really clean up the engine bay and make plugs and wires alot easier. I dont really want to make it a catless car and would still like it to pass emissions. Do the mids bolt up to factory y pipe or do I have to get a new one either way? From all the ones ive been looking at the driver side looks as if it would bolt in directly where my first cat is (California car). I appreciate any help on this topic and please feel free to voice your preference and/or experience. Thank you

haha yea that was the original thought but I figure if it really makes all my general mantinance that much easier and it could get me a few HP in the process, well thats win win.

I guess your right when it comes to the hoses and what not. Now would that apply as well with access to spark plugs or not? What I guess I mean is the design of the primaries more egernomically friendly?

If you are worried about the ease of spark plug maintenance, you should not be putting headers on this car. No offence I am just being straight up. NOTHING short of removing the motor makes doing the plugs easier on these cars. lol If that car only has 60K on it the next spark plug change would be its last more than likely anyway.

I've had great success with pacesetter mids.

we have emissions control here to, you can pass a sniffer test with highflow cats. but if they have a visual inspection then your goose is cooked. they dont visually inspect here, or if they do, not very well lol.

emission control isnt really the issue. We have a sniffer test but no visual inspection so its not really a issue either however I just want the driveability of a header that wont scrape a pebble off the street. And I could go allllll day on gun control and the state this country is in but thats another forum all together. Thanks for the imput yall. Im fairly new to the F-body scene and this forum kicks ***. well from my brief research this is a sample test:
IDLE TEST - PASS:
GAS READING STANDARD
HC ppm 140 220
CO% .28 1.20
CO2% 15.2
02% 0.5%
HIGH IDLE - PASS:
GAS READING STANDARD
HC ppm 96 220
CO% .95 1.20
CO2% 14.2
02% 1.%
Secondary Emission Tests Performed:
Gas Cap - Previously Pass
Tampering - Previously Pass
Visible Smoke - Pass
Liquid Leak - Previously Pass
Indicator Light - N/A
Misc Emissions - Pass
Now where it says "tampering" I would assume thats where the headers/ORY would fall. I also noticed some people saying they no longer do visuals just simply the sniffer.

If the car is running great, and your worried about "emissions" the please leave it alone.
On my old ws6 i ran shories and ended up going to a Pacesetter long tube set up. Ory and a borla cat back.
The car couldnt leave GA because it would never pass inspections, and ga doesnt do ANY here in Savannah.
Overall if you want to wake up the car, i would suggest gear swap.. or other little bolt on..

yea the car runs fantastic now and I would hate to do something and change that. I think my real concern is how many miles should you go before a plug and wire overhaul?
