Default Will regular fuel hose work for fuel pump?

A friend of mine bought a fuel pump off ebay for his 97 and hes in need of some fuel hose to hook it up. All the local autoparts say the only hose they have is 50 psi rated. Thats what hes got on the car now driving it and its doing fine but before we go to the track he wants to make sure its gonna last. Will that normal hose stand up to the pressure? I know an LT1 runs around 45psi but the pump is rated over 100 psi. And another question, since the pump is rated at over 100 psi does that mean that they're 100+ pounds on the line and the regulator drops it to 45 or is it voltage dependent?

Return style system.

The pump just pumps and pumps, the regulator diverts the extra fuel back to the tank.

they make a rubber hose that's rated for fuel injection. 50 is to low imo. you don't want a hose that's borderline on letting go under normal condition.

Where did he put the rubber hose? If he used it to replace the pulsator in between the pump and the line on the sending unit, it will get eaten by the fuel in the tank. Eventually it will fail. I would find a replacement for it, but it will work for a little while.

normal black hose is also not rated to be submerged even if it is rated for the pressure.

There are tons of fuel-resistant tubing options but black hose is DEFINITELY not one of them. He's on borrowed time with that tube.

Might want to contact the guys at Racetronix. They supply a quality hose with their kits.

You might want to look at Parker Push Lock hose (blue hose). Rated to 250 psi.

Its available from a lot of sources.

Good luck

The Parker stuff is rated for gasoline FLOW but NOT for submersion. Standard plastic tubing will work just fine as long as it's rated for fuel submersion.

Where can you get the plastic tubing? Advance says to use the fuel injection black rubber hose (took a week of calling to get them to realize they had it) and autozone says all they have is 50psi. I've got a junked 93 T/A we're thinking about pulling the pump out of and just trading.

NAPA has submersible hose. You can get it in 1 ft package for like $24. H209 is 5/16 and H213 is 3/8. Rated for 100 psi.
