Default Do they make a flow booster for a 58mm throttle body..??? Please help

Hey guys I was wondering if they make a flow booster to fit a bbk 58 mm throttle body. I bought the slp one for 20 bucks but it doesn't fit. Does anyone know if they make one for a 58mm or a way just to block to the 2 holes on top and bottom..??

The bbk has the Air Foil built in... it doesnt need one. The bottom hole is the idle feed hole. You need that one.

I dont believe that it matters. The stock size TB is plenty for most h/c/i cars. Also it wont GIVE it more air. The engine will only pull/draw in so much air. IF you want more air you will have to do something else.

NO!!!! You need that hole as stated above it's for your IAC (Idle Air Control). If you fill that with JB you will ruin a good throttle body.

You sure the top hole is for idle air?

No, the bottom hole is for IAC, but he didn't specify which one? However, there should be no need to fill the top hole as I believe it's blind and serves no purpose.

Argh. A Twin 58 TB will flow around 1000cfm.

A 350 at 100% VE spinning at 8000 rpm consumes 810cfm.
Why do you need to increase the CFM?

If anything, you should put that TB on a drill press and bore a hole directly through the back of the lower IAC opening right through to the back of the TB. Look at a stock TB and you'll see it has this idle bypass hole which lets air enter into a separate (enclosed) portion of the intake to feed idle air to the back cylinders. Drilling a hole is the first step; second step would be to properly isolate the IAC passage/opening in the back b/c again these BBK TB's were designed by retards; right now half the idle air bleeds away into the main plenum behind the throttle blades - you want to keep that idle air out of the plenum and into that separate lower chamber. I did this mod last winter to my BBK TB. Wish I had take a pick but it was easy. Had a steel pipe press fit into the back of the TB (in the IAC outlet tube lets say). I applied some black "the right stuff" gasket maker around the end of the pipe before I laid the gasket on the TB, and applied a LITTLE bit of this stuff around the IAC opening on the intake manifold. Once the TB was bolted up to the intake it formed a good seal between the end of the pipe and the gasket (the IAC hole on the TB gasket was slightly larger in diameter than the pressed pipe, so if I hadn't sealed around this air would have been able to leak out and into the plenum).

If looking for an aftermarket TB I'd just find seek one with a proper IAC passage/design, or perhaps even bore a stock TB. There were guys doing that on ebay for the longest time. OR just save your time and money for a worthwhile mod you will actually feel a difference with.
I think I'll just save up for a ss style intake since I already have the hood... But thanks for the information everyone

IIRC regular CAI setups and lids actually perform better than the SS-style since they don't cook over the engine.

The lid set up WILL require modifacation to your Hood!however will give the BEST results.
The K&N cai is the only cai I would use if a LID or Ws6 air box cannot be used.

Angry

We did what I thought was an interesting dyno test. Bone stock LT1 Camaro. Tied the car on my dyno and made. A couple of baseline pulls. Then installed a K&N "cold air" kit. Picked up 8 RWHP! Only gains I ever saw with such a kit. (Not one single truck ever gained anything in similar tests), then we tried my WS6 TA ram air box. Made the same power as the K&N kit. I thought surely it would make more than the curved K&N duct. I was wrong. The K&N kit was impressive IMHO. We were surprised.
